Ideaal Gewicht Calculator

Uw ideale gewicht op basis van lengte

Ideal weight formulas estimate a reference body weight based on height, using methods developed decades ago for medical dosing and general reference. They provide a range rather than a single 'correct' target.

How it's calculated

This calculator applies four classic formulas — Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi — each estimating ideal weight from height (and sex), using a base weight for 5 feet plus an increment per inch above that.

Example

For a man 170 cm tall, the Devine formula estimates an ideal weight of around 65.5 kg, while the other formulas give slightly different but similar reference values.

Veelgestelde vragen

Which formula is the most accurate?

None is definitively 'correct' — they were developed for different purposes (e.g., medication dosing) and give a useful range rather than a single precise answer.

Should I aim for the exact number shown?

Not necessarily. These formulas don't account for muscle mass, bone structure, or body composition, so they're best used as a general reference point rather than a strict target.

Why do the four results differ?

Each formula was developed independently using different reference populations and coefficients, which explains the small variations between results.
